In what ways does hard work make you feel fulfilled?

Hard work is such an arbitrary thing isn’t it? What may be hard for one person may not be for another. When I think of hard work a lot of times I think of something that requires a physical labor aspect. But that’s not always necessarily the case. Teaching for me can be hard work because it requires a lot of mental exertion but I don’t always have a “fulfilled” feeling from that. The work rarely seems to be done as there is always more grading and more lesson planning. When I go home at the end of the day and work on chores, however, that’s a whole different story. There’s something so exciting about the after effect of a clean home. To me, cleaning is hard work. It requires some physical exertion. It’s so satisfying too in that I am able to have a “fulfilled” feeling from it. But what really is the “fulfilled” feeling? It’s something I’ve only experienced once I rest after the work. There’s nothing like sitting down and admiring everything you’ve done once the work is over. The satisfaction of seeing the stovetop gleam, dishes drying on the counter, and the fragrance of a French vanilla candle burning on the tabletop. There’s a deep satisfaction and pleasure in the outcome of my hard work. My mind echoes the words in Genesis that God spoke over His creation. “It is good.”
